HMPH. Our school textbook said it was 'rappelle moi', but Abby, who is French, said that meant call me back.
And I guess a school textbook would never have something that cheeky anyway.
How shocking it would be!

Anywho, today was pretty absolutely great. Til I got home, but let's get on with the day, first, right? Mm... well, nothing. Math was math. I kinda prefer having it first period in the morning; it's when my brain is clearest and I don't get headaches so easily. And it's more over-and-done-with. And you gotta love Mr V's sadistic sarcasm. I reckon he's the real deal meano teacher, but I have this weird respect for him too.
And then in bio we did a prac. Testing various leaves for glucose. Basically, you grind the leaves into this watery mush, stick them into a test tube with Benedict solution, put it in a beaker of boiling water. Depending on how much glucose is present that's not within starch, the mixture is supposed to turn poo-brown. Various shades. S's one looked like diahorrea. I'm glad we screwed ours up and didn't have diahorrea. But we all stuck manly stickers on our shoulders... ok, so they were plain white labels. And they were small. But I thought of cool names! Like, Star was a 100 Trillion Cells. And Jess was G.I. Jess. And I was... Agent 007.
Well, until I got to French and Sabrina said she was doubleohseven James Bond. Pshh. So? I turned into Agent 008.
And I got 100flipping% on my French test! YAY!
XD
Ok, then there was lunch, and it was rainy, and me and Star discussed the RP and came up with the teenage assassin idea! And then we had Lit and, well, you know Lit. Literature is Life. You gotta love Lit.
And... I walked home. And life was good. And I went to taekwondo. I'm worried that the toughness will never rub off on me... I need to grow a spine!! And eat some cement! It's not that I'm that scared of getting kicked... well, except from the black belts, but they rarely come and Coach always tells them to go easy. But me getting kicked is fine. I just seem to have issues kicking them. They're either my friends or people I don't know too much. Don't get me wrong, I fight with my sisters and we get physical, but in class... I just can't stand kicking people. Eventually. Eventually their uber toughness will come to me.
Then, I got picked up by my dad and my sister. See, they went and bought her a new laptop. Originally, I would have been superdy excited for and with her, but today she blew it. Ok... this is bragging, right?
What brand is yours?... oh, well, mine is this!
Mine's faster than yours!
Mine's black!
Mine looks so snazzy and small!
Is that bragging? Or is it being genuinely excited for yourself? Because, to me, genuine excitement for oneself would sound more like this...
EHMAGAWD, you know my new laptop? It's this brand, and it's superdy fast, and it's black! Black! I love black! And it just looks so flipping snazzy! And tiny! It's cute!
Am I wrong? Blowing things out of proportion? It's just that... why do you have to always be happy by comparing yourself? Don't get me wrong, I've done it at times. Sometimes you just have to. Like when you've just completed a test, and although you passed you didn't do that great. At those times you think: At least I didn't get as bad as so-and-so, right?
And I understand that. I do that too. But for everything? When you can get happiness directly from something without worrying about someone else, can you not just appreciate it the way it is? For example... ok, when Linchy gave me 'The Woods', my first hyperventilating reaction was to show my sister. I shoved it in her face squealing 'look what Linchy gave me!'
I did not say: 'Haha, look what my friend got me! Do your friends ever do that?'
Then she played the jealous card, but I don't think she was being serious, and I played along.
But today, getting her laptop, she sits their just comparing her new one to my one. And it's like that for everything! I come home happy that I get a 100% on my French test, she reminds me that she got 100% on her Legal SAC a while back, and how hers is more important. She borrows a top of mine, and see, when I wear my clothes, well, I just wear them. When she wears them, say, this top, she throws on a belt as well as a cardigan and puts her headscarf all fancy. Which is a bit excessive to me, but if she wants to, ok. But then she starts going on about this is how you wear your clothes, you're supposed to spruce things up and accessorise, how I may as well be dressing like a guy the way I wear things... on and on. Ok, if she wants to look pretty, so be it. But must she start going on about me?
And it's not just her! It's what everyone seems to do for everything! If I get said good marks, my parents would want to know if it's the highest, what other people got, before they decide if I've done well. Whenever they go out to some house with a kid my age, they'll come back with lectures of 'why can't you be like so-and-so, she always wears this, she always listens, she always blah blah di blah...'
And our flipping education system! I'm not sure of the specifics, but I know for a fact that a) it's you against everyone else in the state, and b) if everyone doesn't do so well, you get scaled down, and vice versa. Can't you just do your exam, get your mark, and not have to be put next to everyone else? I'm not saying getting the highest mark in general. I'm talking about how your mark apparently depends on how everyone else does. Like, what the fish?
See, if everyone just stopped worrying about everyone else, if we just stopped comparing ourselves for every single thing and we just learn to appreciate the way we are, well, I think we'd be much happier people.
Just sayin'.
ATM:
Reading: Poison Study. Maria V Snyder. Jess lent it to me... let's see how good her taste is, ja?
Writing: The Faux Princess. I've returned to it, although I'm playing with an idea for Linchy's contest.
Listening to: Doorway to My Dreams. JoJo. Come awn, that's a real love story.
Feeling: Tired. 'Tis getting late...
Just let me put those words up...
How can you measure the promise for love
When it's weighing against
a chance that comes once?
How can I leave when I know he's the one?
When the dust settles he might not be here
Now I'm standing with you
in this terminal
Crying my eyes out in tears...
Peace in,Laila
