My Lord! Open up for me my heart. And ease for me my task. And untie the knot of my tongue.
That they may understand my speech.

A Miracle Moon

For the first time in who-knows-how many years...

... all the Muslims in the world, I mean all, all over the world, all the Muslims have agreed on the first day of Ramadan. I know it doesn't sound amazing - it's something that should be expected. But quite frankly, every other Ramadan for the last couple of years, all the communities have differed on when it starts.

It has to do with the sighting of the moon, you see, at the end of the lunar month. I don't know much about it, but some communities work on a specific scientific prediction, others on actual sightings, and others.... well, I donno.

But for once, for ONCE, the world has agreed on one day. Isn't that just wow?

So yeah, Ramadan starts on the first of August. Tomorrow. I just got back from the first tarawih prayers. I love the mosque in Ramadan. There's just this warm, fuzzy atmosphere. And there was the usual Turkish gang, a few Lankans and random others. And the imam was reciting beautifully as also usual...

Yeah, anywho, I don't know what else to say. I feel compelled to have some kind of goal for this month, but honestly, I don't know what.

OH, well, insha'allah I'm getting a cat this Friday!

EEP!

I have no details except that it's one years old, and I refuse to have an all out hyper fit and get excited until the cat is in my arms.

I also watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Despicable Me this weekend. Both were epic to the max and are so on my favourite movies list x)

Anyway, I should go to bed.

ATM:

Writing: Chipped & Untitled. There's this contest Lisa McMann is hosting, and I wanna enter. I haven't got a proper idea, so I'm just writing til I get something.
Reading: The Lost World. Michael Crichton. It's nothing like the movie, but I love it, and now I really want that pirate book, but I can't ask for it because of my cat :/
Listening to: Welcome to Mystery. Plain White T's.  Was on the Almost Alice CD and j'adore it, it's quirky ^^
Feeling: Happy. 'Cause it's Ramadan tomorrow!
 This is a place
Where your mind can escape
All the problems today
And go far, far away
This is a town with no history
Feel no misery
Come and visit me
Welcome to mystery
Peace in,
Laila

The Party Girl That I Am

Yeah right.

So my sister had her formal (Australian equivalent to the prom) on Friday night. I picked her dress out x) I know, I'm that cool... so, like I've been telling everyone, every time mother dear or said sister tell me I don't have style, I'll just remind them who picked the dress. Even awesome-r, there was this dress that they wanted to buy, and I told my sister someone was bound to get it, so don't, and whatdoyouknow, apparently her friend did get the dress, only a different colour.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

But I'm gonna give it to my sister - she looked beautiful (not that I'd tell her), and even her friends... I had to go over to take photos, and they all looked like fairytale princesses.

And then, and then on Saturday, I watched HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2.

I have to say, I missed you Linch *sniff* It's not that I didn't like C, she was great company, but you know, it's just not the same... plus I wouldn't have to explain anything, and you'd understand my commentary.

Still, it was amazing. I've got Harry Potter Post-Viewing Withdrawal Syndrome, so that's all I can say. But basically, it means it was epic and that now I'm traumatized 'cause it's actually over.

Yes, anyway. C and I bonded, started planning a collaborative story, but she had to go 'cause her sister had a party or something. Then our family got ready and went to a fundraiser dinner. Yeah, totally rocked up in my stilettos and danced the night away... neh, but I found Shania, who is one adorable baby, and I baby-sat her for most of the night. Also hung out with H and the whole gang on that side, twas fun.

I can't believe our Lankan community though. They just don't know how to shut up. Seriously. They're like... pigeons. I read in one of the CHERUB books, that pigeons have two thoughts. One is 'DANGER, SCRAM!' and the other is 'everything's ok'. Well, Sri-Lankan adults (from my community) are almost like that. There two thought processes are 'food!' and 'no food, let's talk'.

So at this dinner, it was a janaza fund - which means they raise money so that if someone in the community dies, they can provide money for a proper burial, grave spot, etc and such without having to worry the family. Anyway, so they were trying to put on a performance, trying to talk, give lectures, and the little kids even sang this song, and these people just don't stop TALKING! They just yack away, and the MC was just too nice to them - she should've screamed them down.
But it wasn't such a bad night - that was the only annoying thing. H is hilarious, she's awesome. And Shania is just.... awwwww.... if I go on, it'll be in baby talk, so I'll just skip o.o

And today was just a boring Sunday, I didn't go to taekwondo because, and I did homework, and then I watched Barbie and the Three Musketeers! I love that movie now! I so wanna know how to sword fight and ninja-flip around. As well as be a pirate. You know, I don't think I'd be a witch or wizard. I donno... I feel like Hogwarts and everything about the Harry Potter series is perfect, I'd feel really stupid in it. If I could, I'd be Luna Lovegood, but that's it.

Ok, enough rambling on (it's the Harry Potter Post-Viewing Withdrawal Syndrome, I swear).

ATM:
Reading: The Red Pyramid. Rick Riordan. It's still going good, I'm about halfway through.
Writing: Chipped. Also going good, though a little slow 'cause of school.
Listening to: Electric Storm. Delta Goodrem. It's just so... haunting o.o
Feeling: Ill. Because of the Harry Potter Post-Viewing Withdrawal Syndrome.

Ok, so, the song, I think for some reason it would be cool in the Hunger Games movie, see, here...
Feels like our last chance
to get out alive
Will we survive this
treacherous night?
Predators waiting
circling around
Sky full of fireworks
burn without sound

Fighting for no reward
Cold in the rain
I’m tossing and turning
Your words ever burning my heart
Peace in,
Laila

POP!

And so the holidays come to an end...

Like, seriously, these ones went by SO fast! It's not fair! Usually, it's like, ok, yeah, the holidays are over - that sucks but it was expected. Now it just.... went so fast *sniff*

I watched the Go Back to Where You Came From documentary! It was amazing! I kinda even want to go on it - at least be put through it o.o Andyway, we loved it so much, my sister and I wanna get the DVDs.

I FINISHED SEASON 3 OF SUPERNATURAL.

I was looking up 'Bela Talbot' and on Wiki it said her character was taken negatively... o.o But I liked her! Granted, she was a pain a la derriere, but she was so spunky, she had an English accent and and and come awn, there's only so many typical fall-in-love girls you can watch, you know? She was ninja!

*sniff* Why'd she have to diiiiie?!!

And then there's Ruby :)

Ok, I thought I'd be like, 'nuuu, demons, never like 'em ever!'
But she was nice. And now she's gone somewhere o.o I hope she comes back.
I think she will though, 'cause while I was looking these up, other pictures kept showing...

AND, OMG, I FORGOT JO!!
She's so in the spunky club too - all of these chicks are the ones that don't get too romantically attached to the Winchesters, and they know how to take care of themselves... mostly anyway. But what happened to Jo?!?! The Roadhouse burnt down, but but but... they failed to mention if she was in it at the time or not o.o
I hope not...

And those were my three new favourite characters, and they're GONE! (Sort of)
x(

Whatever. At least Sam hasn't turned evil yet.

So yeah, now, before I start on the rest of the seasons that S shalt give, I have so much to watch, at least these other ones I have currently:

Pirates of the Caribbean, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Barbie in the Three Musketeers (oh, shut up), Alice in Wonderland, Despicable Me and most hopefully:

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2!!!

I HAVE TO SEE IT! My friend, who has always demonstrated hate for HP around me, confessed to loving it. I mean, she was like... like the hater of all haters... ok, she wasn't that bad. But she didn't like it, and if SHE changes her mind, and decides she wants to watch it, THEN I HAVE TO. I'M MORE OF A FAN THAN HER, OK?!!? IT'S. JUST. NOT. FAIR.
Pleasepleaseplease, this Saturday, I pray!

And then I think of school again.

Sigh.

ATM:
Reading: The Red Pyramid. Rick Riordan. I haven't started, but I have been reading. I just didn't have time in the last few days.
Writing: Chipped. I'm up to above 7000, and still going. I haven't reached The Point yet.
Listening to: In This Life. Delta Goodrem. If you haven't figured, this blog has lotsa Delta-hints around it - I love her old songs :)
Feeling: Pooped. I mean, come awn, I've got school tomorrow and I had another cliff-hanger ending to Supernatural. But it's not like an emo-depression thing, just in case you're wondering.

I was nurtured, I was sheltered
I was curious and young
I was searching for that something
Trying to find it on the run
Oh and just when I stopped looking
I saw just how far I'd come
In this life
Peace in,
Laila
