My Lord! Open up for me my heart. And ease for me my task. And untie the knot of my tongue.
That they may understand my speech.

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry; quick, quick, quick, quick...

AHHH! Get that song outta my head!

I swear, I don't even like it that much. I don't hate it, like, meh, you know? But it's stuck in my head!
Grr >.<

Ok, I don't want to start on a silly-negative note. Why? It's the beginning of the holidays!

AI CHIHUAHA!

Right?

:)

Today was absolutely lovely. Ok, I missed out on most of art, but oh well. We had an assembly, our year 10 coordinator's resigning. He made a speech and stuff, and yeah, ok, the one thing that I remember was:
"Yes, I went to the best teacher's schools, Launceston [something something]. There were 50 boys and 200 girls. What fun it was."

Hey! It wasn't my fault; everyone laughed at that point. Other than that, it was a general drag but ok. I'm not too fond of that teacher, that's why. But I admit he has an air of respect about him.

And then we had PE, which is when that dumb song got in my head. But it was a coolish sort-of bludge. Basically, he let us do anything as long as it was PE related. Me and Hannah spent most of the time in the gym, but we also got out to do some skipping, and we started a whole double-dutch thing. Where has my fearlessness gone! I did this in primary school! But I just couldn't make myself go in this time. Oh well, life goes on.

Then bio, which was... bio. Not torturous, just funny and relaxed. Our holiday homework is to eat grass, by the way. I will do it.

OH! Literature! Gahh! So, Mr A was being funny as usual. But today, he caught my eye, and he's like:
"Am I making you laugh, Laila?"
And I'm not good at talking to adults, and especially when a lot of people look at me, I tend to stammer and smile stupidly. So yeah, I kinda started doing that... the smile stupidly bit. And blush. And that just kept him going.
"I love making you laugh. That just made my week, you know. I just love making you smile."
He then turns to speak to the whole class.
"She's just so serious! It's so nice making her smile!"
And I'm basically hiding my face behind my hands, and everyone was looking at me. And then, the class sort of moved on. Mr A said something, and Igor said something funny. And then Mr A looks back at me, and he's like:
"Did you hear that, Laila? That would've made you smile."
And he made this huge deal of having it repeated and everything and more staring was involved while I continued to hide behind my hands. The worst bit is, this is just a normal reaction for me. I'm not trying to be cute or anything, it's how I am. I hate it when the attention's on me. But then, after class, S was like: "Why were you giggling? What was so funny?"
(I was not giggling. I was smiling stupidly and hiding behind hands. Huge difference.)
And then he does these silly imitations that are technically not imitations because I wasn't doing it, but Star whacked him, and I did too (attempted to... she made me hold her books so I was sort of handicapped.)
Anyway, that was the embarrassing lesson of Literature. Golly.

BUT... now I'm officially on holidays! Breathe!

I went 'shopping' after school, boring, but I bought a black coat (I love Tightrope. It's the only shop I actually don't mind clothes shopping at). And then I got home and chillaxed, and we had class, which was just awesome. I love all the sisters! They're so funny! The sad thing is, I don't tend to remember what they said exactly, 'cause I'm too busy laughing to take notes on funny stuff that I can say. But here's something nice.

Direct note I wrote down:
Allah (SWT) said He created mankind weak - hence, we are not expected to be perfect. We just have to do our best.

It's a paraphrase of what was being said, but isn't that nice? Mann, I love my religon.

So! I should probably get to bed. I'm just on a high, that's it...

ATM:

Writing: The Faux Princess. Admittedly, not enough progress. But it's the holidays! 'Nuff said?
Reading: 9th Judgement. James Patterson. I haven't started, but I will...
Listening to: Sad Song. Lenka. Believe it or not, it's not actually a sad song. It's quite bright. Gotta love her.
Feeling: Hyperbuzzyawesome. IT'S THE FLIPPING HOLIDAYS!

Now, I've finally got that ridiculous song outta my head....
Darling,
Everyone's compelled to look into the mirror
When they're crying
Just because your tears are pretty
Doesn't mean they'll get you by
Peace in,
Laila

A.R.K. and the Coin

So, today I had to take my little sisters to this 'garden party' at their primary school, and as we were leaving, I told Haloomi to say 'bye' to whoever...

So she starts madly screaming BYE to this little kiddo on the monkey-bars. He's not looking, so I'm like:
'Hali, who's that?'
And she's like: 'That's my friend. I'm saying bye.'
And I go: 'Uh, does he have a name?'
And she says, with a little shrug: 'I don't know his name.'

Some friends. Ah, my little sisters are so strange.

Oh, ARK = Act of Random Kindness. Star and I have decided to do at least one a week. Mine, for this week, was inviting her to the 'garden party', so she can relive the memories of her primary school. Oh the times she had... umyeahright.

THE COIN! So last Friday, Star, S and I superglued a $2 coin to the ground in our school. After and agonizingly uncertain weekend, we found that yes, it was still there on Monday. We relished at the fact we'd have an entertaining recess + lunch.

We were disappointed. Not one person noticed the coin. Sad... what a lame school we have...

But to add to the disappointment, come Tuesday morning and someone had pulled it off! What?!!? WHAT? What is the world playing at?! That's just cruel!

No matter. Today, I found a 20c coin, and although usually I don't pick up coins, this one I did. Guess who's going to be supergluing that to the floor?

;)

Yup, so technically I don't feel like stealing because I'm putting it back on the floor. Oh, speaking of 20c coins, in my little sisters primary school, they have this 20c coin stuck in the cement. Like, in.

o.O

Haven't updated in a while 'cause I feel lazy. So what's been up? Passed the math test, A for art assignment, A+ for Lit SAC... yeah, I'm good. Holidays in two days! Hopefully, this weekend, Star and I will make chocolate ganache with lavender cream and strawberries, and then we'll watch Anastasia. And at some point these holidays, Star, Linchy, Mia, Chamsi and I shalt watch.... Sucker Punch!!! Booyah!

Anything else...? Oh, for GS yesterday, we had to look over these surveys and statistics for our school. Apparently, while we're ok at everything, for Math Methods (CAS), our school sucks bad. We, as students, had to point out possible reasons, and most of what our group came up with linked back to lack of motivation. A lot of people are forced to, or pick Methods because of prerequisites for Uni. So then we had to suggest solutions, and the question was: how do you motivate high school students to pass math methods?

I mean, little kids, you can award them and bribe them with sticker, lollies, prizes, movie days. High school kids don't get so excited. There's honestly nothing you can do to get students excited about maths - it's more of a self-motivating thing. You can't make them, they have to make themselves.

So I thought of a fear factor. Honestly: I'm only passing Methods now 'cause I'm scared of failing, scared of displeasing my teacher. Scared. But I don't consider this a bad thing 'cause it's helping me. I do not like math, but I'm doing it and doing well enough. This is good, right?

So what if that was it? What if, in order to make them pass, you had to scare them with a punishment? Detentions or whatever?

I said this to Jane, and she said you can't motivate students by fear. I get what she's saying; it's not a very likable thing. But if being as nice as possible isn't working, isn't that the only way? I mean, come on, 'fear' also demands respect. Think of olden times and the cane. Yeah, it seems bad, but admit that they were far more respectful and intelligent those days. They had fun in more creative ways 'cause they had to think to waver around rules. You see?

So, I've been made to be really weird because I admit that I think I would like to live in those days. With more respectful people. More discipline and intelligence. Crazy, yes, but I'm being honest.

Annd... I've decided I really don't like free periods on computers. Admittedly more likable than working, but still, I think I'll just die of boredom. I spent a long time finding pictures to draw, but it gets so frustrating. You can only keep photosearching for so long. But then I think of the 40page assignments, and I go nu, appreciate!!!

Anywho, that's my life as of recent. ATM:

Reading: Nothing. I just finished Plague (chyeahhh, flipping awesome!), and I shalt go to the library soon.
Writing: The Faux Princess. Slow progress, but better than the previous version.
Listening to: Something That I Want. Grace Potter. From Tangled, it's so catchy!
Feeling: Content. Life is presently fine.

Words....

She's a girl with the best intentions
He's a man of his own invention
She looked out the window
He walked out the door
She followed him and he said "whatcha looking for?"

She said I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything I see

Peace in,
Laila
