The things you find in the news!
Anyway, basically I've been exploring a new contest idea, in which I find interesting news headlines and such, and give the SWtians a chance to write it into a story. I'm not quite sure if I want to do it anymore, though, because generally they all seem to be turning into murder cases, and I don't want to bore people out of their minds.
I am however, going to put up a contest for the Beaumont children disappearance. Now that is one freaky case. Basic outline: 3 kids leave the house one morning to go to the beach. They never come home. Though this happened in 1966, this case is still open to this day. They have sketches of a suspect, but the guy is probably way older now, even dead. There's various twists and turns to it, and yet it all comes down to nothing.
Scooby Doo! It's a mystery!
I sympathize with the mother though. Poor woman didn't want to move houses because it would be 'dreadful' if her babies came home and didn't find their parents waiting for them. That's love.
And then there's just plain... cruelty. Two years after the kidnapping/disappearance, they started recieving letters from Jane (the eldest child) who wrote about how well 'the man' was treating them. Well, only two letters. She also recieved a letter from 'the man' himself, who said he loved the kiddos but was willingly to organize a meeting place for Mrs Beaumont to meet them. She turns up with a disguised detective, and of course no one shows. She gets another letter from Jane, saying 'the man' was angry for the 'betrayal' after discovering the undercover detective.
It was all a hoax - in actual fact, some teenager wrote it as a practical joke. Can you imagine how hopeful Mrs Beaumont would have been? How much pain she felt after? They're her kids, for God's sake!
A joke?
Seriously?
How obnoxious.
There's more to the case, but I won't go on.
I watched 8 episodes of Supernatural this weekend! That's crazy! 320min of TV! More than I'd watch in... two weeks! But it's so wickedawesomeamazing!
(x
On top of that, I also watched Eurovision. Star forced me to. It was ok, though from the songs she's shown me before, I know they can do better. Winning song was ok, but Ukraine's thingo was amazing! They had this... sand artist, who drew pictures to depict what the song (Angel) was saying.
O.O
And I can't believe Spain didn't get more credit! They were so bubbly and happy! And Estonia last? Seriously? There song was cute and funky too!
People these days.
We played soccer + basketball in PE today. Four on four, whole court, no subs. Now that is exhausting. And fun.
:)
I don't think I much like Fauvism, which is what we're doing in Art. I donno... I can see some appeal in few pictures, but most of it... well, it ain't my style. Why is it this is the topic we get to use canvas on?? It's not fair! I would have rather done Impressionism! Either way, I'm attempting to paint a ladybug... in all the wrong colors, of course.
In two weeks I have exams - four of them. I have a French oral and a Lit oral this week and I think the next. We'll be recieving our next Methods SAC soon. Cross country on Wednesday.
Fun, fun, fun. So that's it for now, I guess.
ATM:
Reading: Deadly Decisions. Kathy Reichs. It's ok, so far. And it has some French bits! Way to go, right?
Writing: Saving Jasmine. Progress is slow, but steady. And I was looking at some writer-help websites, which were awesome...
Listening to: Nothing. I haven't been very musicky lately.
Feeling: Giggly. You'll see why...
I'm not fond of cannaballism, it's creepydisgusting, but this is funny. Headline of the moment:
Cannibal dobbed in by first course
A cannibal has been arrested in Slovakia
after his dinner guest found out he was on the menu
and called police.
Peace in,
