Yep, I watched some of that wedding.
Oh, come awn, why does a huge group (that like to pretend they're a small group) say WHY'S IT SUCH A BIG DEAL GET OVER YOURSELVES THEY'RE JUST PRETTY FIGUREHEADS IT'S JUST A WEDDING! ?
...
My respect for Kate Middleton just flew up, up and awayy! Firstly, she wanted trees inside the avenue place. Secondly, her dress was so pretty and conservative. Thirdly, the best yet - she said she didn't want wedding gifts. Married to a prince, she has everything. And so she said if anyone wanted wedding gifts, give it to charity.
Does that not make her admirable?
And I like weddings. May it sound girly, but I think a proper reunion like that is beautiful and sweet. When said lady was dating the prince, I didn't really care. But marriage - awww!
x)
So I watched the start and the end and it was lovely.
The middle was taken up by class. Boy, I love this class. Ok, some focus points: -
"God will not give you a burden you cannot bear."
So when everything in your life seems to be going down the toilet, just think: GOD KNOWS I CAN GET THROUGH THIS. SO I WILL.
Seriously, take that perspective on life and suddenly everything is so easy.
"Sometimes people treat 'Muslim' as a label with no action."
Apparently there's some Turkish - ech-hem - 'Muslim' chick who's an actress and got on the cover of Playboy and is now getting 'death threats'.
Ignorance. Since when did Muslims get in that kind of industry? Actress? Seriously? Does she really seem like a Muslim to you? And posing for Playboy - come awn!! What practising, knowledgeable Muslim would do such a thing?!
And it's not just her... it's these 'death threats'. We're not supposed to do those things full stop. We should be trying to negotiate, talk to her, help guide her.
Then the media picks up on this and blows everything out of proportion and you can just hear the ka-ching of coins entering greedy pockets for how much this story makes. Like, whatever!
"Allah (SWT) does not need out prayers; we do."
We went through that story of how the Prophet (SAW) was taken up through the levels of Paradise and how our prayer was given to us - it started from 50 and got reduced to 5 prayers a day, but they still equal 50. Merciful? Yes. Then we were talking about how the prayers help us to just pause in our busy lives and make a connection with God, just slow down and get some spiritual fulfillment. I'll admit that when I pray, it's so hard for me to concentrate and it made me so jealous to hear them talk about how serene they feel when I'm just having this mental battle and screaming at myself to CONCENTRATE! I mean, it's like the Outlandish song said - 'it's hard to have a one-sided conversation.' Yeah, we know He's listening, but it's still hard to keep on track when there's no reply, right? But that's what I love about our religon. I've said it before; we don't have to be perfect, we just have to do our best.
And then Sister N was telling us about how this drunk lady approached her and her family after the AFL - that's more of a you-had-to-be-there-to-appreciate it moment though. It WAS huhlarious.
Then at the end of class, my older sister was telling them of the Evil Glav (her Italian teacher) who basically has issues. Picture this: a fifty-year-old woman clubbing with former students, whining about life to her present students, encourages rebellion and has never been married or had kids. Generally a sad picture. She has some kind of obsession with my sister (I have absolutely no idea why) and just picks on her all the time. She says my sister is an uptight, serious, over-stressed freak. She says that every year, one student in her year 12 class goes wacko and this year she thinks my sister is the one. When my sister tries talking, it's just this constant questioning, pushing, trying to make her conform to the teachers thoughts. When my sister tries shutting up, she's a depressed girl that needs help.
I mean: What. The. Flip?!?
And then comes the lovely bit; Sister Hannah... awww, she's just so sweet. I kid you not. She was offering all sorts of advice, telling my sister to bring this teacher to our class so she could 'deal with her'. And, upon leaving, she's like; 'I'm sorry, but when someone picks on someone I care about - mother lioness comes out!'
Like... awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
What else? Oh, so at lunch I found this cellphone. After a bit of prodding on Star's part, I figured out who it belonged to. I then made S deliver it to said owner - that girl is sort of in the popular, intimidating group, and though I have talked to her, I... would rather avoid it - and I would say that that's my A.R.K. of the week? Because I was encouraged to keep it ^^
Oh, and apparently they gave S a dollar after for 'finding and returning it'. And I didn't steal that dollar. Whatcha say?
And... I did a Lit SAC. I think I passed, but not greatly.
And... my eyelash is 1cm long (naturally).
And... for a minute, my heart beats 52 times.
Just some random facts.
Ok, ATM:
Reading: From My Sister's Lips. Na'ima B Robert. Started, and so far so good.
Writing: Saving Jasmine. Though I think I'ma rewrite it, I'm afraid it's getting too long and stuff...
Listening to: Nothing right now.
Feeling: Lovely.
Duh. Quote that Star sent me:
Each day, awakening, are we asked to paint the sky blue?
Need we coax the sun to rise or flowers to bloom?
Need we teach birds to sing, or children to laugh, or lovers to kiss?
No, though we think the world imperfect, it surrounds us each day with its perfections.
We are asked only to appreciate them, and to show appreciation by living in peaceful harmony amidst them.
The Creator does not ask that we create a perfect world; He asks that we celebrate it.
